What are the age ranges for this program?

Our programs welcomes individuals aged 14 and above, offering a tailored approach to martial arts that champions personal growth and community connection at every age.

Is experience required for this program?

Regardless of your fitness level or martial arts experience, our classes are designed to be inclusive and supportive, encouraging beginners and seasoned members alike to learn and grow together in a team-oriented atmosphere.

What are the membership commitments?

Flexibility is key in our memberships, offering a 3 month Kickstart option alongside plans that cater to long-term goals, allowing you to choose what best suits your journey.

How will I be engaging with other members, will I be fighting them?

Rest assured, initial stages focus on learning and growth without sparring. As you gain confidence and skill, you'll have opportunities for controlled sparring and pressure tests, always under professional guidance, fostering a safe and supportive environment. These opportunities are optional, you do not have to engage in anything you are not comfortable with.

IS there a grading system?

Yes, the syllabus is taught a structured way, layering over previous grades, developing over time giving you a strong foundation that everything else is built on. You start with a white sash, the next foundation certificate grades are yellow and red sashes, intermediate Diploma grades are Green and Orange Sashes, Advanced Diploma Grades are Brown sash and the Advanced Degree grades are the Black Sash Technical Grades.

Do I have to wear a uniform ?

Yes, even though we train more for the martial and the perspective of self defence, we still honour tradition and wear a club t-shirt, training bottoms and wear the white sash issued when you become a member. These can be purchased on the club shop, just scroll down and you will see the GWC kit !

Can I have a free trial ?

Yes, but we go one further, we meet you and you will be shown around our own fully equipped gym, you will then be introduced to the instructor and will participate in a class, after you will have a consultation so we can both see if we're a good fit and go from there !

What if I'm too old ?

Wing chun can be taught to anyone, we will make pressure tests adaptable to you so all things are taken into consideration. We have a member who is 72 and loves the training, another with half a lung missing and he still trains and has become a fantastic intermediate level student, so if you want to train we have you covered. Our only stipulation is that you have good attendance, you won't get good at anything if you don't attend !
